Movie Review :
Delhi Belly Scripter Akshat Verma’s directional venture has made the critics definitely excited. Now the second question comes that what does box office thinks? Well, we will get to know that very soon it seems. Akshat Verma has brought the story of 3 parallel life’s in the backdrop of business capital Mumbai. The stories are quite different from each other but still hints at the dark and sarcastic humour which he is trying to play with.
The first story has Saif Ali Khan in the lead role. The movie begins when his doctor says him that he has got a life threatening disease and he should begin his back counting. And the way doctor narrates his condition is really funny. Here this out “You do not have ulcers, therefore you also do not have perforated ulcers and you can stop your medication. You have cancer, stomach cancer.” So, now Saif is in a state where he realises that he never consumed alcohol, drugs or anything which is said to cause a negative effect to your health. And now he thinks that since his days are numbered better that he spends his time doing whatever he couldn’t do. And then he reaches his home filled with guests as it’s his cousin’s marriage time. and he decides to have booze, drugs and you cannot guess what more. Saif has a secret desire to see the genitals of a transgender. And he thus he comes through Nary Singh and then comes the line “humko aapke samaan ke baare mein curiosity hai,” which is funny to hear. But inside all this you can see the desire of a controlled man who is all ready and is struggling to break his barriers and fly high.
The second story is about Kunal Roy Kapur and Shobhita Dhulipala, the couple who are buzy in outweighing the pros and cons of what will happen once his wife travels to US for her higher studies. But they put the argument aside and are all ready to attend the birthday party of a friend who happens to be Shehanaz Treasurywala. There they meet the boyfriend Shivam Patil who is a fan of Emraan Hashmi. And the foursome get caught in a drug bust act. Well, for me the second story had nothing much to offer.
And now begins the third story. The third story highlights the life and struggle of most of the Mumbaikairs. Vijay Raaz and Deepak Dobriyal are the torchbearers of third story or we can say third part of the movie. Both of them are normal courier guys but that doesn’t stop them anywhere to dream big. Both of them want to dream big and earn loads of money. And fortunately their luck changes and they finally get waht they were dreaming. And of course that lands them into a series of troubles. Let’s see what happens ahead.
So, that was a quick snapshot of three parallel stories into the movie. Now, the biggest question is should you visit the theatres this weekend? Well, the movie is undoubtedly a great attempt in bollywood in the genre of a dark comedy. Nothing of that sort has been made yet and Delhi Belly was definitely something in that line but it was more for a young audience but this one is for the matured audience type. Overall, for me only Saif ali Khan shines in the entire movie and rest two stories have some loose ends which makes the movie an average watch.
